Josh Hazlewood has sustained a right sided calf strain which will prevent him from playing any further part in the NRMA Insurance Test match against India in Brisbane.
He sustained the injury during the warmup this morning and after bowling one over was unable to continue.

It is a little strange decision to promote Siraj above Bumrah and Akash Deep and since Siraj has walked in there is a clear confusion among Jadeja and Siraj on when to run and when not to. Twice in an over Siraj just survived a close run out. It just seems like India’s plan on how to go about the current situation is a little unclear. Jadeja cannot just go after the bowling and risk himself getting out as still India are trailing behind in this game and needs to cross the magic number of 245 to make Australia bat again. We again and again emphasis on that number as it will let Australia bat again and takes time out of the game and will let India draw the Test.

One thing rain has done is have slowed done the rate at which this pitch has deteriorated today. If the wicket was exposed to natural light there would have been indentations formed and the ball by now would have misbehaved bounce-wise. However, the constant starting and stopping and greasy outfield have increasingly made conditions not alter much and made it easier for batting. Both Nitish Reddy and Jadeja who have solid defence are playing with a lot of comfort. Not to be a broken record from our end it just emphasis the point if top order could have applied themselves India would have been in a better position.

However, one advantage Australia does have is they can use their prime bowlers for longer. For any new joiners, Josh Hazlewood has walked off for scans this morning and we are not sure if he will come back to the game again. So Starc and Cummins have to do the bulk of the work. India is still trailing by 261 runs however, to avoid following all they need is another 60 runs. If the visitors manage to make Australia bat again the game is as good as draw.
